Is Coast Music Conservatory a Homeschool Program?
No, Coast Music Conservatory is not a homeschool program. We are a fully accredited private music school partnered with a fully accredited private academic school. Students attend classes at our Manhattan Beach location from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
How much homework will a student have after school?
The amount of homework a student has depends on several factors, including:

● Student's course load
● Student's level of commitment to excelling and putting in extra time
● How the student chooses to spend their time at Coast Music

Students have the option to sign up for as much study and practice time as we offer. If they choose to dedicate more time to music practice labs and classes, they may have more homework after school but little to no additional practice time.

To meet requirements, students must complete a minimum of 10 Laurel Springs academic hours and at least 3 music lab hours at Coast Music each week. These hours can be completed in advance or made up as long as they are fulfilled before the semester grading period ends.

We provide 5 Laurel Springs study hours and 4 music lab hours daily, allowing students to easily meet their required hours on a flexible schedule. If a student falls significantly behind, they will receive a warning. We set attendance recommendations for all students, so we can provide a more accurate answer once we understand their individual goals and study habits.

On average, if a student spends 3–4 hours per day on academic study and 1 hour in the practice lab, they will likely have little to no homework after school.
What if a student needs to be away for an extended period (e.g., 2–4 weeks) during the school year?
Laurel Springs is a fully accredited online private school. 100% of their curriculum can be studied offsite. We will waive our required minimum study hours for students who are on extended leaves (for work or travel). Laurel Springs will oversee the student’s academic progress.

Coast Music requires weekly meetings to check in on musical progress. Students are encouraged to zoom in to ensemble rehearsals as much as possible. All private lessons can be made-up before or after the leave period.
